What is a 'Child Labour Free Brick'?
A group of NGOs met in January 2018 at the office of DRCSC (Development Research Communication and Service Centre) to agree a definition of what is a 'CHILD LABOUR FREE BRICK'. This is important if CLFB are to be made available and promoted in the market.

It was agreed that the following conditions must be met for a brick to qualify as CLFB and be marketed as such :

-
No child below 14 years of age works at the Brick Kiln. (This condition includes so called ‘light work’ helping family members.)
-
Where there is a school or child education/activity centre at or near the brick kiln all children must be in attendance during its working hours.
-
A brick kiln owner must see documentary proof of a child’s age before allowing children of 14-18 years to work.
-
Non-informed monitoring visits to the brick kiln must be made by a person / NGO responsible to this group (CLFB) or other independent body to ensure that the above conditions are met.

It is possible that changes will be made to this list in future, and other conditions may be added.
