207 Rescued from Bonded Labour at Hardoi Brick Kiln - 2016

Activists from JVI and PVCHR, with the active assistance of state government officials, rescued 207 bonded labours, belonging to 47 families, from a Hardoi brick kiln, last week (May 23). Here’s a report for Different Truths by Lenin.

Forty seven bonded labour families of Bihar, totalling 207 victims, were rescued from a brick kiln in Chandauli village, Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, on May 23, 2016. The labourers had been working under conditions of repeated abuse and physical violence, in addition to deprivation without wages for seven months. This case is located in Atrauli block of Hardoi District (UP).

NHRC notice to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar govts over bonded labour - 2014

LUCKNOW: National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the District Magistrate of Mirzapur and Labour Commissioners of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar governments over rescue of 50 alleged bonded labourers from a brick kiln at Sinhar village area of Mirzapur. 

Taking suo motu cognizance of a PTI report, the commission has issued notices to the District Magistrate; Labour Commissioner of UP government and Labour Commissioner of Bihar government, calling for reports within two weeks about ..
